the worst tours

Picture
We have several routes prepared and tested, east or west of the city center! We’ll typically start the tour by trying to find out where you’ve been walking already, through the city, and then try to find a route somewhere you haven’t been yet. In case you have a special interest, we'll try to meet your (hopefully low) expectations! Each one of the routes takes 3-4 hours to walk through (with stops for coffee or beer whenever necessary!) and we try to adjust to different physical capacities.

...We got:

Tours for beginners: you’ve arrived in Porto less than three days ago, you’ve been around the center, qued at Lello, went down to foz by bus, maybe, marvelled at casa da música and possibly went to Serralves. What now? ...BOOK A TOUR!

… and Tours for people who think they know Porto : ...know it alls. People who have toured with us before and want to go on some other track! People with too much time on their hands, looking for purpose, not afraid of walking. Immigrants of any kind.  BOOK A TOUR

route examples (can be enlarged, cut, added...) or discussions that animate walks:
- A walk on the eastside: forgotten for years, the east side is the next place for massive investment and renovation. Is the only investment possible the turning of every building into hotels (paid for with tax money?!!)? what about production? what will Porto be living of, in 30 yrs, besides tourism?
- The 'Islands': 'Ilhas', in porto-speak, are the constructions in the interior of the city-blocks, to house the workers (back in the days when porto wasn't loosing people everyday) Are they still in use? How have they evolved?
-What does  a primary school up on the Fontinha hill have in common with the closed library at Marquês Square? How has Porto dealt with the crisis? Are ocupations a way out in a city where there are so many empty buildings, and so many people without a home? Is property sacred? What is wrong with the city center?
- The romantic routes (it's a period, not an attitude) towards the river in alleys and small old  backstreets, and while you're at it get to know some of the most interesting SAAL interventions (public participation housing projects made after the 1974 carnation revolution)
